Welcome to Mind and Motion Therapies. Our aim is to help you maximise your mind and body potential. By listening carefully to our clients we can tailor a range of therapies to suit individual needs whether it be by hypnosis to help overcome stress, anxiety, fears, phobias or unwanted habits, coaching for personal development and unblocking self limiting beliefs, improving your relationships with others through mediation or encouraging your body to heal itself from within, through reflexology or dietary and nutritional advice. One to one, group and corporate sessions available.
Clinical Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is one of the most validated therapies available today. It is recognised by the British Medical Association and has proven to be a safe and effective alternative to make positive, lasting changes to your life.
It is a form of talking therapy that accesses the sub-conscious mind where the roots of old unwanted patterns of behaviour such as smoking, weight issues, addiction and phobias are stored. Hypnotherapy is a positive, future focused and completely natural therapy that uses the aid of inducing a deeply relaxing hypnotic trance to assist you in regaining control of your life, your emotions and how you respond and react to certain situations.
What can it help with?
As well as fears, phobias and addictions, hypnotherapy can help with health issues such as stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, IBS, chronic pain and many others. It can also help improve your life by increasing your confidence and self-esteem, reduce anger, accelerate learning, improve presentations and public speaking, enhance sports ability, maximise your business potential, improve relaxation and raise your level of happiness and satisfaction in life.
What to expect
The initial session will last 1 hour and will include a detailed consultation, discussion about the issues you wish to address and the outcomes you want to achieve. The first session is usually about achieving deep relaxation unless you are attending for a specific addiction or phobia which, in some cases, can be remedied in one session. Subsequent sessions will last 45 minutes and will be specifically targeted to your area of concern or your goal.
During the therapy session you will be reclined in a comfortable chair or on a couch with your eyes closed and the therapist will guide you through a deep relaxation process using imagery, metaphors and suggestion, often leaving you feeling calm, relaxed and re-energised. You will be aware of what is being said and you are in control of the session throughout.
Coaching
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a helping relationship formed between the client and the coach aimed at unlocking the client’s potential to maximise their own performance, whether it be in business, sport, career, relationships or other areas of life. It is solution-focussed and results-orientated with emphasis on the client unlike Mentoring which calls upon the Mentor’s experience to develop and progress the client. The requirement for commitment and a move to action are the two things that set coaching apart from other talking therapies and the Coach will skillfully use a wide variety of techniques and methods to enable you to develop an action plan to achieve your goals.
What can it help with?
Modern coaching has its origins in sport, using motivational skills and visualisation techniques to inspire athletes to be the best they can be and it can be equally effective in everyday life situations where we aspire to live the best life we can. Coaching can be personal for development and progression, business based for success and achievement, executive for improved business performance and operational effectiveness, spiritual working towards discovery and enlightenment and other areas where you can set a goal and commit to moving forward to action.
What to expect
Coaching is a series of purposeful conversations or activities designed to challenge your thinking and to unblocking self limiting beliefs paving the way for refreshed and inspired responses and action. In the initial session a contract will be drawn up to define your goals and the roles, responsibilities and accountability of you and the coach. The contract will specify the terms of the relationship such as commitment to the process, set boundaries, agree review dates and set out the confidentiality agreement. The expectation is that you will walk away from coaching with an action plan whether it be for a happier, more content life, a resolution to that nagging business concern, how to build better relationships or whatever it is that will lead to the achievement of your goals.
Mediation
What is Mediation?
The aim of mediation is to reach a common sense agreement, written or verbal, that is acceptable to both parties. It is a voluntary process that can take place if all parties consent to being involved. Mediation is an effective way of resolving disputes and conflict between two or more parties. Our impartial Mediator will guide you through the process to reach a win/win agreement by facilitating open communication in a confidential and safe environment without passing judgement or taking sides.
What can it help with?
Conflict and dispute can occur in areas of our work and private lives. Mediation provides a cheap and practical solution to relationship, family, business, operational, contract, consumer and neighbour disputes, often avoiding the need to go to court.
What to expect
Mediation works within a structured and respectful process that allows both sides to present their point of view, summarise and feedback what they have heard, identify and discuss issues that arise and communicate their feelings without fear of interruption or reprisal. Each party will meet with our Mediator separately to discuss the issues to be addressed then together with the other party to present their case, hear the other side and explore a range of ideas to provide a possible win/win solution.
Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic complementary therapy to the feet or hands, involving the application of pressure to specific reflex points that correspond with the anatomy of your body to encourage your body to heal itself from within. As an holistic therapy, reflexology treats you as a whole person rather than your symptoms by working on imbalances in your body to unblock energy flow and achieve homeostasis (balance).
What can it help with?
Reflexology can improve your health, well-being, vitality and emotions. Benefits of the treatment can include:
- reducing stress
- deep relaxation
- stimulating the production of the natural chemicals in the brain, which can ease pain
- improving circulation
- cleansing toxins from the body by balancing the lymphatic and excretory systems
- revitalised energy by unblocking energy pathways
- preventative healthcare by stimulating the immune system to promote well-being and assist the body to fight off infection.
What to expect
The session will last about 45 minutes including a detailed, or follow-up, consultation with our therapist. You will be reclined in a comfortable chair or on a couch, fully clothed expect for footwear. Our therapist will read your feet, being aware of any conditions that may prevent treatment at the time. The treatment itself consists of a range of relaxing massage techniques and application of pressure to specific reflex points on your feet. By detecting and working on imbalances on the feet, in the form of crystal deposits of lactic acid, the flow of energy within the corresponding body zone can be corrected. The crystals are broken down through massage then dispersed via the circulatory system and eliminated from the body. The treatment is relaxing and non-invasive. Finally our therapist will give you aftercare advice.
For specific treatments a programme of 4 to 6 sessions is usual, though many of our clients visit as and when required for relaxing and stress-busting treatments as well.
